Classic Basil Pesto

Basil pesto with garlic and a hint of lemon

Prep Time 10 minutes
Servings 1 cup


  • 4 cups basil leaves loosely packed
  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
  • 2 garlic cloves roughly chopped
  • 1/4 cup pine nuts lightly toasted
  • 1/4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese grated


  1. In a food processor, pulse basil leaves, lemon juice, and garlic cloves to combine. 

  2. Add pine nuts and kosher salt and blend on low for 10-15 seconds

  3. While food processor is running on low, drizzle in olive oil slowly to emulsify

  4. Add parmesan cheese and blend on low once more to combine.  

  5. Taste and adjust seasonings accordingly
